The Buddhist Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu, Nepal is steeped in history and can offer any visitor a truly magical experience that will last a lifetime.

The Boudhanath Stupa is situated in the Northeast of Kathmandu, capital of Nepal and is one of the largest and holiest Buddhist sites in the world. The word stupa translated from Sanskrit means “mound to cover Buddhist relics”, and many Nepalese and Tibetan kings, including a piece of Lord Buddha himself, are claimed to be buried at this sacred site.

History of The Boudhanath Stupa

The Stupa was built around 500 AD by a Nepalese king, although there are a number of contradictory accounts. It was destroyed by the Mongols and then rebuilt in the 14th century. In the late 1950s Tibetan refugees fled there to escape invasion of the Chinese, and in the 1980s it was opened up to tourists.

The Stupa itself is a large white dome, or mandala, topped by a pinnacle with eyes to denote the Principal Lord Buddha watching over us; a third eye for wisdom; the nose a Sanskrit number 1 to mean wholeness, and no ears or mouth so evil cannot be heard or spoken. Layers of whitewash are ceremonially thrown over the dome during the three-day Tibetan New Year festivals, known as Losar, and subsequently about 35 inches are scraped away annually to prevent further expansion.

Religious paintings, called Thankas, can be bought at various stalls, but the best one is the painting school, about a third of the way round. Painters have to study for six years, and the actual thanka takes around 6 months to complete working 12 hours a day, with gold leaf and brushes no thicker than a single human hair. Due to such close, intense work, the painters unfortunately suffer with eyesight problems after a few years.

Importance of peace in the development of a country

Man, developed from a chimpanzee started to live with its own kind. He made his territory and stared to live a social life. He introduced many new ideas to make his life comfortable and secure. he made many weapons from stone, iron, metal etc to be free from wild animals and other men. men. He made huts in which people living permanently were called members. When the time changed many house were made and thus a society was established.
In order to increase the boundary of the society, they fought and increased their territory Which eventually established a country.

To grow more powerful, aggressive and prosperous, people stared to utilize the nature or so called natural resources. The utilization of the natural resources made the country in every sector.

This change or progress is called development. It is important to all species, especially to humans but development was not easily made. We needed machines, money, material and manpower or human resources.

All these factors have proven to be a key factor for development of a country economically. These factors helped a country to develop economically but peace is also one of the important factors for development.

A country can not prosper without peace. A country should align with other countries to maintain good relation and to avoid foreign interference.

"In today's world filled with irregularities and inequality, there is no alternative except the principle of peaceful coexistence". This was said by late king Birendra Bir Bikranm Shah and it is a great topic of concern for a country like Nepal to follow the path of peace. In today's world, there are many demands of people like supply of petrol, gas, electricity, drinking water etc and to fulfill it, the country might not have enough resources to fulfill those demands, In this situation, the country needs to ask for help from other countries.

Only the country having peaceful relation will give another country help. Thus a country needs to develop peace with other countries.

Inside the country also, there might be political disturbances or strikes which may destroy the country's resources and manpower.
So, inside or outside also, the country we need to develop peace for development.

Green Tokyo Tokyo no midori

What was your first impression of Tokyo?

I guess it is a city that never sleeps or that is crowded with thousands of people. ..Others might say it is a city with lots of neon signs, skyscrapers and etc...

City life is so exciting but sometimes, you also need nature to rejuvenate your mind and body... Spending time in natural surroundings is the way to do it.

Here is a good tip for you.

Let me introduce you a couple of "green" sites in Tokyo.

Shinjuku Gyoen (originally designed as an imperial garden and then opened to the public as a national garden after WWII)

Only 5minutes' walk from JR Shinjuku station south exit, this park consists of Japanese, English and French style gardens. It is also known as one of the most popular spots for cherry blossom-viewing.

Hamarikyu (the family garden of Tokugawa shogun designed 350 years ago)

It is only a 4 minute walk from Tsukiji fish market. My recommendation would be watching the tuna auction; trying some fresh fish bowl and spending few hours exploring this Japanese style garden!

Enjoy a country walk in Tokyo city!!
